Executive Summary

The Scottish Ministers are proposing to make Regulations under section 17 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to be called The M9/A90/M90 Trunk Road (Kirkliston to Halbeath) (Variable Speed Limits and Actively Managed Hard Shoulder) Regulations 2012 and The A823(M) Trunk Road (Pitreavie to Masterton) (Variable Speed Limits) Regulations 2012 and to invite comments. It is anticipated that these Regulations will come into force in mid to late 2012. The Regulations will give Ministers powers to operate a bus lane on specified sections of the hard shoulder of the M90, M9 Spur and A823(M) and also implement mandatory variable speed limits on traffic lanes on the M90 between Junction 2a (Halbeath Interchange) and Junction 1 (Admiralty Junction).
